WHOLE SPACE DISINFECTION

With concerns rising about the spread of novel diseases such as COVID-19 or Coronavirus, Westway is currently extending our whole space disinfection services to all essential businesses in our community. Westway is a healthcare contractor that is currently working with some of the largest hospitals in Houston, including Memorial Hermann, Methodist, and St Luke’s. In these spaces, cleanliness is vital to everyday operations, and the Westway service division continues to meet those cleanliness standards. Our teams are equipped with commercial-grade cold-foggers designed to disinfect large areas quickly by coating all exposed surfaces with a fog that disinfects and dries within minutes. These foggers are equipped with a cleaning agent that, while safe for human contact, is listed by the EPA as a certified hospital disinfectant with an EPA kill claim to Coronavirus. Our team will deliver fast and professional results with minimum disruption to your business. If peace of mind and safety is critical to the operation of your business, contact us so we can help your people get back to doing what they do best.

DISINFECTION IN ACTION

The Westway team seen here is working with two commercial partners, one being a 28,000 square foot oil and gas chemical research lab in The Woodlands. They required a team of professionals who knew their way around a sensitive environment. The other client was a commercial construction company in the energy corridor. They entrusted us to disinfect the entire floor of their high-rise after a COVID-19 case was reported in the building. Both of these clients are considered essential businesses, and both wanted to bring peace of mind to their employees. Utilizing equipment like the Commander Tri-Jet Fogger and The Cyclone we are able to cover 2 – 4 thousand cubic feet per minute per machine with a hospital-grade disinfectant. That service is followed by the wipe down of any high touch areas with the same hospital-grade disinfectant.

FAQ

What is cold fogging?

Cold fogging is a method of applying products in a very fine mist of particles ranging from approximately 5-30 microns in size. Using this method, a technicians can efficiently apply product to large indoor areas and hard to reach spaces. When done properly with hospital grade disinfectant, cold fogging can reset your environment to a safe and clean state.

Do you need a license to do that?

Not in the state of Texas. However, Westway has been vetted by Houston’s largest healthcare systems.

Could I just buy a cold fogger and do it myself?

See the answer to the question above. It is much safer to use professionals who know the products that they are applying well and are used to working in the cleanest environments such as hospital and labs.

What products are used?

We are using multiple products for varying applications and needs but every product is listed on the official EPA “List N” for disinfectants for use Against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). One of our product is Thyme based and is actually safe for food contact surfaces where no wipe down or rinse is required. We are committed to working with you to find the best product for your needs!

Is it safe?

Yes. Our mission is to make people safer. If we feel that a product or service is contrary to human safety, we will not use that product or offer that service. Any product that we use is researched thoroughly so that we understand fully the manufacturer’s recommendations. We take no risks when it comes to our customers’ health. That is why we insist our customers vacate the premises prior to fogging and we require our team to wear personal protective equipment during the application process. We recommend our service to take place after the close of business so that any cleaning product in the air can have time to settle. We are glad to furnish safety data sheets for any product that we use and are willing to discuss the pros and cons of each product.

Do I need to vacate the premises during treatment?

Yes. Sometimes an area can be sealed and confined or negative pressure can be used so that it is safe to inhabit other parts of the building but that has to be determined on a case by case basis.

How much does it cost?

Prices vary depending on a number of factors including square footage, product type, risks involved (such as responding to a confirmed case of COVID-19), number of treatments. Call us for pricing and we will give you an estimate based on need and square footage.

How does this add value to my business?

Aside from actually making your employees and customers safer, having your property treated by us tells them that they matter. When we treat an area, it will be marked with a sticker to show that it has been disinfected, showing your employees and patrons that you are taking care of them.

Who should use cold fogging services?

The short answer is anyone who wants to keep themselves, their employees or their customers safer and healthier. If your business involves the young, old, or immunocompromised you have the most to gain from frequent disinfection services.

What advantages does cold fogging have over other methods of killing germs?

Our research indicates that applying a cold-fog or ultra low volume (ULV) provides the best coverage and is the most effective at applying disinfectant evenly and in hard to reach places. Another advanced disinfection method uses U.V. light but is only effective where the light is able to shine and is not suitable for treating large areas like cold fogging. While thermal fogger can produce extremely small particles, their size is inconsistent. Thermal particles particles will range dramatically from 0.5 up to 30 microns in size. On the other hand, ULV foggers can produce a very consistent and controlled range of particle size from 5-30 microns in size, which be changed by adjusting the flow rate. Most importantly, we make sure to follow manufacturer recommendations on application and while electrostatic foggers make a good show, they can change the chemical makeup of cleaning products that aren’t designed to do so possibly rendering the product useless. The saying on all EPA products is that, “label is law” when it comes to application. Our gentle thyme based product specifically indicates using a ULV only for application. Customer can also breath well knowing that in addition to fogging, all services are followed by the CDC recommended wipe down of high touch areas.

How often should I have my place of business treated?

That depends on a number of factors. If you are running a senior living center and it is a time of high concern for COVID or flu, once a week or even daily might be recommended. Other lower traffic businesses might find once a week or once prior to reopening to be adequate.

What cities or areas do you serve?

The greater Houston area including all suburb areas.

Aside from health and safety, what are other benefits of your services?

Peace of mind and increased customer and employee confidence. Most of our products also deodorize and are known to get rid of stubborn odors that regular cleaning just won’t reach. They generally treat bacteria, mold and mildew so if your property has an offensive or musty odor, our products could be effective against that as well.
